Core of the Kernel

My heart shone like the moon,
lavishly every night,
never thinking that tomorrow soon
the power of hate will rise to fight.

My heart stood rock steady,
to face the world, it was ready,
Hoping to make them all hear its beat
but only loneliness showed up to meet.

My heart gave all away for love.
Love it expected in return, nothing else
Thought it impressed with its charm
but retreated in failure to bear the harm

My heart became just a toy,
a second fiddle resort to find joy
used, abused and brutally thrown away
reducing it from a pet to stray.

My heart got played into this dirty game,
kept aiming at the skies in multiple tries
Midway it won many a fame,
but one loss equalled a thousand cries.
